Date: Wednesday, March 6, 2024

Time: 4:30pm - 7:30pm

Location: Desert Breeze Community Center (Gymnasium), 8275 Spring Mountain Road

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in Conjunction with multiple African, Ethiopian, and Pentecostal Community Leaders will be hosting a Mental Health Symposium and Resource Fair for members of these communities (adults and children). LVMPD has been asked by this large community for help and guidance in obtaining, physical health providers, mental health providers, substance abuse, bridge of understanding between parents and children, employment, childcare and many other community needs. This really is going to be a physical, mental and community resource fair for the adults, parents, and children. The focus has been really to bridge the gap between the cultural background of parents who were born outside of the US and helping them to better understand their children who were born here and more modernized (and the issues that come with cultural differences) ….there has been several suicide attempts by younger people who feel they are not being understood by their parents and their community.
